About the Team

Part-Time Associate Digital Editor

Adam Bible is a part-time associate digital editor at Men's Journal with over 18 years of experience. His bylines have appeared in outlets including Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, GearJunkie, Road & Track, Best Life, Bicycling, Muscle & Fitness, FLEX, and Eat This, Not That!. A former New Yorker, Adam now lives in North Carolina where he spends the slower Southern days tending to chickens, planting veggies, and restoring vintage motorcycles and bikes. Nights often involve sampling the latest beers and bourbons while trying to walk the fine line between being buzzed and throwing good darts.

Part-Time Associate Digital Editor

David Johnston is a part-time associate digital editor at Men’s Journal, who covers travel and the environment. His work has appeared in Lexus and Mariner magazines, McSweeney’s Joke Book of Book Jokes, as well as CNN Travel. His love of travel has taken him to a small-town Canadian theater with a working cannon and on an Australian hot air balloon ride that ended in a toxic waste site. He lives in the Pacific Northwest, where he's working to perfect his pizza dough, bagel, and chocolate chip cookie recipes.

Social Media Editor

Jon Perino is the social media editor at Men’s Journal. He was previously a senior editor for GrindTV and the Adventure Sports Network (ASN). His unwavering passion for all things outdoors is only shadowed by his devotion to his wife and two kids. After spending many years traveling the world to exotic locations seeking waves, culture, and adventure, he now resides in sunny San Clemente, CA, and firmly believes he's found paradise. When he's not hammering away at his keyboard, you’ll likely find Jon on another kind of board (be it on snow, asphalt, or water)—or relaxing in the shade with a craft beer from Pizza Port Brewing Co.

Executive Editor

Dave Shively is the executive editor at Men’s Journal. He previously worked as the content director at Adventure Sports Network, including Canoe & KayakSUP, and Kayak Fish. His book, The Pacific Alone, won a 2019 National Outdoor Book Award and documents Ed Gillet’s 1987 crossing from California to Hawaii, lauded as “the greatest sea kayak voyage ever survived.” Dave is based in Colorado. When he's not managing MJ’s Adventure and Gear channels, he unplugs by surfing, paddling, or mountain biking. Current beer of choice: Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA.

Digital Deputy Editor

Brittany Smith is the digital deputy editor at Men's Journal, where she manages all verticals on the website as well as the Blueprint (health/fitness) section of the magazine. She specializes in writing and editing stories that pertain to an intrepid lifestyle—including adventure, travel, fitness, and gear. She’s mountain biked 155 miles across Africa; placed third in the ITU World Triathlon Series amateur age group in Bermuda; and climbed the Rotstock Via Ferrata near the infamous north face of Eiger in Switzerland. She lives by the mantra: If the journey doesn’t scare you to some degree, go bigger and wilder.
